How BibleBridge works
This plugin works together with the BibleBridge server. Auto-Tagging, search, topics, cloud sync, and other API-backed features run on BibleBridge’s own servers, which we build, host, and maintain.
What makes it different
BibleBridge is one consistent Bible, not separate tools bolted together. Everything stays on your domain, under your name and logo – no visitor accounts, no ads, no tracking. Switch translations once and reading and search both follow: nothing to reconfigure.

How it works
- Install and activate the plugin
- Go to Settings BibleBridge
- Set your name (for example, «Grace Church Bible»)
- Your Bible is live at yoursite.com/bible
Free tier
The free tier covers everything above under «Free, on every plan» – no ads, no tracking, no visitor accounts. Upgrade anytime from Settings BibleBridge to unlock the features above under «Upgrade to unlock more features.»
The free tier is for personal, ministry, educational, and other non-commercial use. Commercial sites can evaluate the free plan for 7 days from first activation, after which a paid plan is required regardless of traffic – see Terms of Service.
External Services
Every file ships as readable source – no obfuscation, no hidden build steps.
The plugin connects to the following services hosted at holybible.dev:
- BibleBridge API (holybible.dev/api) – serves search, cross-references, topics, reading plan data, Scripture Atlas, and Auto-Tagging. On activation, the plugin sends your site URL and name to provision a free API key; normal use sends API calls with that key and either the requested reference or, for Auto-Tagging, the text of the post being scanned (cached for 7 days so the same content isn’t sent twice). No personally identifiable information is collected or transmitted.
- BibleBridge Sync (holybible.dev/reader/sync.php) – optional cross-device sync for visitor highlights, notes, and reading progress, using an anonymous code with no account required. No personally identifiable information is collected.
- BibleBridge Verification Ping (holybible.dev/api/verify-beacon) – on page load, the visitor’s browser sends a small signed confirmation directly to BibleBridge, bypassing your WordPress installation, to verify automated-traffic detection is working. Includes IP address and browser user-agent; not used to track or profile individual visitors.

- Activate the plugin
- Go to Settings BibleBridge to set your reader name
- Find your reader URL under Page URL in Settings BibleBridge and add it as a custom link in your navigation menu
For manual installation: upload the biblebridge folder to /wp-content/plugins/ and activate through the Plugins menu.

Is my visitors’ data private?

Yes. We don’t collect personally identifiable information from visitors. No accounts, no tracking. One cookie remembers your visitor’s translation choice – nothing else. Cloud sync uses an anonymous code – no email or password required. See the full Privacy Policy.

Does this work out of the box?

Yes. The plugin works immediately with no setup required. A free API key is automatically provisioned for your site on activation. No account is required to get started. To review your account status or upgrade to a paid plan, go to Settings BibleBridge and claim your account.

Who is this for?

Christian businesses, ministries, and churches that want Scripture to feel native to their own website – not embedded from external tools or sent to other apps. If all you need is a menu link out to an external Bible site, this plugin is more than you need.

Is the free plan available for a commercial website?

Only as a 7-day evaluation from first activation. After that, a paid plan is required regardless of traffic – see «Free tier» above and the Terms of Service for the full policy.

What translations are included?

King James Version (KJV) and Berean Standard Bible (BSB), both public domain. We don’t currently offer NIV, ESV, or other modern translations since they require paid publisher licensing, and we’d rather keep every plan free of licensing fees than gate certain versions behind them.

Does it slow down my site?

No. Both translations are bundled with the plugin, so chapter reading never leaves your server. Only search and a few other features call the API on demand.

Can visitors sync across devices?

Yes. Cloud sync uses a simple code (like «GRACE-4821») – no email or password needed. Highlights, reading progress, and plan completion sync automatically.

Can I customize the URL?

Yes. By default the reader lives at
/biblebut you can change this in Settings BibleBridge. -
Does it work with my theme?

The reader uses its own full-page template and includes safeguards to prevent most styling conflicts. It’s actively tested against real installations of popular free WordPress themes and page builders, and works without issue in the large majority of cases.
Some themes or plugins apply aggressive global styles – such as button or link hover effects – that can occasionally show up in the reader. If you notice anything unexpected, try switching themes to confirm the source, or contact support with a screenshot.

Does BibleBridge affect my site’s SEO?

No. BibleBridge doesn’t alter your site’s existing pages or their SEO metadata; it only adds new routes for the Bible reader. Chapter reading is served locally and unaffected by daily capacity limits.
